Cathedral of St. John the Baptist

I absolutely adore this stop. In fact, the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist is nicknamed the “Sistine of the South.” After visiting the Sistine Chapel in Rome myself, I can confirm that this cathedral does in fact compete with Michelangelo’s famous masterpiece.

If you had just a few minutes in Savannah and could only do one single thing, walking along River Street is a must. But, if you plan your visit wisely, you should have plenty of time to stroll along the cutest street in Georgia. Whichever direction you walk, you are surrounded by beautiful scenery…cobblestone streets, historic brick buildings, adorable shops, waterfront views, and more.

There is so much to explore around River Street, making it one of the most Instagrammable spots in Savannah. Be sure to walk along the streets, up the historic stone staircases, across the rooftops, etc!

Forsyth Park

Forsyth Park is Savannah’s answer to Central Park. The gorgeous fountain in the middle of the park is without a doubt its most popular feature. I find Forsyth Park extremely peaceful, especially in the fall and winter months. Take a stroll through this park if you need a break from busy River Street. Even better, grab a blanket and a few friends for a lovely picnic underneath the oak trees!

Savannah Cotton Exchange

Savannah, Georgia

Easily one of my favorite buildings in the whole city! The Savannah Cotton Exchange stands today as a great reminder of the influence that cotton had on this city, since Georgia was one of the leading producers in the country. Not pictured is the fountain & iron fence in front of the exchange…it features iron medallions of famous statesmen and authors in Savannah.

If anything, Savannah Cotton Exchange is an incredible piece of architecture that makes for the perfect place to snap a pic for Instagram.

Savannah, Georgia

I don’t believe that this bridge has a name…hence my name for it: Super Cute Bridge. You can easily find it by locating River Street Inn at the top entrance on the street level. The bridge is right next to the inn. Or, if you’re already walking along the water on River Street, head up the stone stairs and you’ll spot the Super Cute Bridge (as well as the main roads).
