3 of the Best Photography Locations in Atlanta

Atlanta has it all – history, museums, hiking trails, street art, sports, and more. With so much to offer, it is no wonder that Atlanta provides many opportunities for photography. Here are 3 of my favorite locations to capture the beauty of Atlanta, Georgia.

#1 – Georgia Aquarium

Atlanta

Visiting the Georgia Aquarium is one of the top things to do in Atlanta. I had an amazing time viewing the various exhibits. There is a lot to see and do at the aquarium, so it can easily fill up an entire day.

Naturally, the aquarium provides many photography opportunities. It’s the third largest aquarium in the world, so do you expect anything less?

Cameras are permitted in the Aquarium. However, the use of flash is prohibited in the presence of the animals. Additionally, the Aquarium asks to refrain from taking photos in the sea lion and dolphin presentations, as well as the 4D theater.

My favorite areas for photography were the jellyfish and the HUGE tank that houses the whale sharks!

Just outside of the Georgia Aquarium is Centennial Olympic Park. Make a stop here to photograph fountains, nature, and a ferris wheel called the Skyview Atlanta.

#2 – Krog Street Graffiti Tunnel (& Nearby Art Murals)

Atlanta, Georgia

My favorite photography location in all of Atlanta is Krog Street Tunnel. It is one of Atlanta’s most unique landmarks and a favorite place to see amazing street art. Each time I visit the city, I have to visit. The tunnel is updated so often that you could probably never take a picture of the same thing twice

There are walkways for pedestrians and cyclists that are covered in vibrant paintings. While parts of the area may seem dirty, I always felt safe exploring the tunnel. I recommend walking around the outside of the tunnel to view more beautiful, colorful murals.

#3 – Jackson Street Bridge

Atlanta, Georgia

Do you recognize this iconic image from the Walking Dead? Jackson Street Bridge wins the award for the top place to photograph Atlanta’s downtown skyline. It is very easy to access this bridge since there is a sidewalk for pedestrians/photographers. Jackson Street Bridge has become a hot spot, so you might have to share the area with other photographers. I encourage you to arrive before sunset so that you can photograph the view in the daytime, at sunset, and at night.

Address: Jackson St NE, Atlanta, GA 30312
Admission: Free!

Where are some other parts of Atlanta that you enjoy taking photos at? These are just 3 of the many, many photogenic spots.
