Carousels in Paris: Where to Find the Prettiest Ones

No matter where I am in the world, I am constantly on the hunt for carousels. They are always photogenic and are usually paired with some sort of pretty background. Luckily, Paris is home to many beautiful, famous carousels!

In total, there are about 20 carousels scattered around the city. We visited 4 of the famous carousels and many can be found at the popular tourists attractions. After researching Parisian carousels prior to my trip (again, I’m on the hunt), I chose to visit the the ones that I personally felt were the prettiest. Honestly, can you really ever go wrong with carousels??

Here are my favorite carousels to video and photograph in Paris and how to find them:

Eiffel Tower Carousel (Carrousel de la Tour Eiffel)

Eiffel Tower Carousel

I visited the Eiffel Tower Carousel on my first night in Paris… so naturally, it needs to be first on the list! This beautiful carousel is located directly below the Eiffel Tower and next to the Seine River. You will have incredible views of the tower around the carousel, which means lots of photography opportunities.

I encourage you to also walk along the Seine River for more unique views of the carousel and the tower. Come nighttime, the entire area is lit up by the magical, twinkling light of the Eiffel Tower.

The Eiffel Tower Carousel is one of the best in the entire city. When visiting the carousel, be sure to take video. There’s nothing like seeing the carousel in motion with the tower in the background!

Address: Prom. Quai Branly, 75007 Paris, France

Trocadero Carousel (Carrousel de Paris)

Yes, there are 2 different carousels at the Eiffel Tower!

This beautiful carousel is conveniently located at Trocadero – one the BEST spots in Paris to get those postcard-worthy photos of the Eiffel Tower. Head to this viewing platform to receive panoramic views of the tower and surrounding area. Then, walk down the steps towards the Trocadero Fountain and you’ll easily spot the carousel.

I recommend spending a few hours (if not an entire day) around this area. You can take hundreds of photos, picnic on the grass, ride the carousel, admire the fountain, explore the nearby streets, and more. You could also walk across the bridge to the other carousel I mentioned earlier – the Eiffel Tower Carousel.

Hôtel de Ville Carousel

Hôtel de Ville Carousel was the one that I was looking forward to the most when planning my trip to Paris! There is just something that drew me in about the charming carousel paired with the incredible Parisian architecture of Hôtel de Ville. This is actually where the City Hall is located in Paris. You can take tours of Hôtel de Ville if you wish (after photographing the carousel, of course!).

Please note that this carousel is seasonal and might not be there year-round. We traveled in April and were lucky enough to spot it!

Sacré-Cœur Carousel (Carrousel de Saint-Pierre)

Sacre-Coeur Carousel

Next up is the stunning Sacré-Cœur Carousel. It is located in Montmarte (a district in northern Paris, on a hill above the Seine River) at the very base of the famous Sacré-Cœur Basilica. The carousel is hard to miss, given its location. You will find painted scenes of Venice, Italy all around the carousel. This is one of the prettiest carousels in Paris. Take a few minutes to admire this artwork.

We visited this carousel early in the morning and ended up eating a picnic breakfast right next to it. Arriving in the morning also allows you to beat some of the crowds – bonus!

The whole area of Montmarte is one of the most picturesque places to visit in Paris. Are you planning on visiting? Check out our post: A Guide to France’s Charming Montmarte.
